What a fence installation & repair project involves
Fences in this climate fail at the posts. Frost pushes any post that was not set below the frost line, and once one leans the panels either side start to follow. Replacing panels without addressing the posts underneath simply resets the clock on the same problem.
We set posts below the frost depth on concrete footings, and we check the height and location rules that apply before building. Fence height is governed by the City's fence by-law, and boundary fences shared with a neighbour carry their own considerations — both are much cheaper to get right beforehand than to rebuild afterwards.

- Can you repair just part of a fence?
- Yes, and often that is the sensible option. What we will tell you honestly is when the posts are the real problem — replacing panels on failing posts looks fixed for a season and then leans again.
- How tall can my fence be?
- The City of Toronto's fence by-law sets maximum heights, and they differ between front yards and rear or side yards. We confirm the limit for your property and design to it, because an over-height fence can be ordered removed at your cost.
- What about a fence shared with my neighbour?
- A fence on the property line is a shared matter, and Ontario has legislation covering how neighbours divide the cost. We will flag it early and, where it helps, provide a written scope and quote you can share with them.
